The Army is made up of many clinical groupings, known as corps. These corps can be classified into two categories, the arms, or combat, corps and the service, or combat support, corps. The Arms or combat corps are those which are directly involved in the fighting and can be divided into these smaller groups.
The Ordnance Corps and the Service Corps. The Ordnance was normally responsible for machinery and ammo. It organised the supply and storage of ammunition and the repair and maintenance of machinery, vehicles and weapons. The Army Service Corps was responsible for the transport and provision of supplies and rations other than machinery or ammunition, this included the delivery of mail to the troops.
Ordnance: Supervised all army supplies
Transport: transport of supplies, mail and personnel by land, and sea and air;
Electrical and Mechanical Engineers: maintaining, recovering and repairing machinery and weapons
Catering: Supervised meals and the management of used dirty facilities.
